What is the NCLEX?
The National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) is a national examination for the licensing of nurses in the United States, Canada and Australia.
To become licensed, you must have an approved nursing degree and pass the NCLEX-RN® (for RNs) or NCLEX-PN® (for LPNs). This step is important as it provides states with a way to independently verify your nursing knowledge and assess your ability to safely practice as a nurse.
