What is the NCLEX?

The National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) is a national examination for the licensing of nurses in the United States, Canada and Australia.

To become licensed, you must have an approved nursing degree and pass the NCLEX-RN® (for RNs) or NCLEX-PN® (for LPNs). This step is important as it provides states with a way to independently verify your nursing knowledge and assess your ability to safely practice as a nurse.

What to do before the exam - NCLEX Registration and Authorization to Test?

Before taking the NCLEX exam you will need an Authorization to Test (ATT) which will be granted through the Board of Nursing in your chosen state. Therefore, you must apply to the nursing regulatory body (NRB) and register with Pearson VUE.

How to get ready for the NCLEX?

To prepare for the NCLEX, the nurse needs to be aware that he/she must have a base of English and specific material for this type of test, there are test plans available for you to study and know the format of the test even before taking it. The American Nurse Society can help you with that.
